ATAC signed in 2005 the world’s first aviation emissions reduction Memorandum of Understanding between a government and an industry. The current state of research and available technology makes it evident that for the foreseeable future the only viable solution for airline type aircraft involves the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF). Aircraft manufacturers have certified its use and operators are using SAF whenever it is available. However, there is an important lack of infrastructure in this country to support the goals accepted by Canada at the recent October ICAO Assembly.
